Welcome to First Baptist Church!
 |
We are the people of God,
praying to God, seeking the plan of God, taking the Word of God in the power of God to the lost without God, and building up the Kingdom of God-all for the glory of God.

FROM THE PASTOR'S DESK:
As I thought about commitment and what to write, I was drawn to a book written by Dr. Jerry Rankin, president of IMB, Empowering Kingdom Growth: To the Ends of the Earth. Dr. Rankin expressed better and more concise the thoughts of my heart concerning COMMITMENT. He wrote: “Obedience to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and to the Bible as our sole Authority of faith and practice are the foundational principles for our mission task as well as our Baptist beliefs.
Plans and programs can be quite diverse. Goals and directions can take one in any direction. We are engaged in many worthy strategies and ministries that will result in evangelizing and discipling the nations and peoples of the world. But all we do must be superseded by a higher commitment to Jesus Christ—the eternal, incarnate, living Son of God. He Himself claimed in Matthew 28:18 that all power and authority had been given to Him.
He then called us to obedience in discipling the nations. Commitment is the deliberate, volitional yielding of oneself to a principle or cause. Obedience is subjection of oneself to a specific authority that supersedes and independent course of action. Jesus is our Savior and Lord, obedience to His commands and commitment to follow His revealed will are not optional.” Bro. Kenny

Our purpose is to intercede for our children and their schools;
pray that our schools will be guided by biblical values and
high moral standards; to pray for every school around the world.
EVERY CHILD NEEDS A PRAYING MOM!

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT:
We often pray and ask God for guidance as to where we are to go in the future. We want to be where God wants us and to go where He leads. As parents we pray for God to guide our children into what He has for them in the future.
But do you realize that God has a plan for us and our children right now where we are? There is a reason we attend the church we do, work where we do, shop where we shop, or go to the school we attend. Believe it or not, you are not where you are just to be a number, but you are there for a purpose. You have a job to do.
If you are willing to be used by God where you are today, may your prayer be “God, what do you want me to do while I’m right here?” Then do it.
