Church History

1912-2009

The First Baptist Church, Crossville, Tennessee, had its beginning in the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Burnett with sixteen people present on August 24, 1912.  In 2002 First Baptist relocated to 712 South Main Street. The present campus includes a 550 seat sanctuary, commercial kitchen, prayer room, gymnasium with skate park, and classrooms. We are located on fifty-five acres three-tenths of a mile from the Cumberland Medical Center.

Seventeen men have pastored First Baptist Church since 1912. God has blessed this church with Godly shepherds who have loved and nurtured the congregation over the years. Eight mission churches were begun by FBC, six of which are currently functioning Southern Baptist churches in Cumberland County.

This church subscribes to the doctrinal statement of "The Baptist Faith and Message, 2000." We band ourselves together as a body of believers in Jesus Christ, personally committed to sharing the good news of salvation to lost mankind. The ordinances of the church are baptism and the Lord's Supper. Current membership in 2009 is 679 with an annual budget of $395,900.00.
