From Our
Pastor…
“There is only one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and there is
only one God and Father, who is over us all and in us all and living through us
all.” Ephesians 4:5
“Father to the fatherless, defender of widows– this is God, whose
dwelling is holy. Ps. 68:5
There are many facets to our Heavenly Father. My prayer is that
you will know the one God and Father more deeply. I also pray that the children
we “father” will come to know Him more deeply as the One who lives through
them.

Assignment: Missions
Are
you thinking that being a missionary will require you to leave your family,
friends and country and do something heroic?
Not necessarily!
A study from US Census
Bureau, USDA and Feeding America using data from America reveals some shocking
information that may inspire you to be involved in missions right here at home:
37.3 million people were in
poverty (12.5%)
13.3 million children under
the age of 18 were in poverty (18%)
3.6 million seniors 65 and older were in
poverty (9.7%)
36.2 million Americans (23.8
million adults and 12.4 million children) lived in food insecure households
3.9 million of all U.S. households (3.4%)
accessed emergency food from a food pantry one or more times.
What shall we do?
Pray for a heart for people
and guidance to find your place of service.
Become aware of the needs of
the people around you, decide how you can help them and then do it.

Check
out WMU’s “Assignment: Missions” in each Sunday Bulletin for up-to-date mission
information. Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8
The Acts 1:8 Model for
Missions includes people from the “ends of the earth” (HCSB). How do you know
who these people are so that you can pray specifically for them by name? There
are resources available to you. One easy place to find information to assist
you to become aware of the needs of people of the world and of answered prayer
is the Missions Table in the hallway outside the FBC library.
Among the materials there are:
• The Commission Magazine, a quarterly tabloid published by
the IMB to communicate the work God is doing around the world. The photos and
text presentations are intended to educate and inspire by sharing how God is
moving today among every nation, tribe, people and language.
• Loving the Lost, a 30-day prayer guide to assist
you to become a participant in the incredible things God is doing around the
world. Editions 1-8 are available.
• Pray for Missionaries bookmarks. This
bookmark is an easy way to information to guide your prayers to the specific
tasks and issues the missionaries face.
